About the Recipe

This homemade whipped shea butter conditioner is a natural and effective way to deeply hydrate and revitalize your hair. The combination of shea butter, carrier oil, and optional additives like vegetable glycerin and essential oils helps to nourish the hair, promote moisture retention, and provide a delightful aroma. Whip it to a creamy consistency for easy application and a luxurious experience.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of raw shea butter

  • 2 tablespoons of carrier oil (e.g., coconut oil or olive oil)

  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable glycerin (optional, for added moisture)

  • 10-15 drops of essential oil (optional, for fragrance)

Preparation

  1. Set up a double boiler or a heat-safe bowl over a saucepan with a small amount of water. Ensure the water doesn't touch the bottom of the bowl.

  2. Melt the shea butter in the double boiler or heat-safe bowl over low heat, stirring occasionally until it becomes a smooth liquid consistency.

  3. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Add the carrier oil and stir well to combine.

  4. Optional: Add vegetable glycerin for added moisture and essential oil for fragrance. Mix thoroughly.

  5. Let the mixture cool and solidify completely. You can place it in the refrigerator for approximately 1 hour to speed up the process.

  6. Using a whisk or hand mixer, whip the solidified mixture until it becomes light, fluffy, and creamy.

  7. Transfer the whipped shea butter conditioner into an airtight container or jar for storage. Label it with the date and ingredients used.
